Emilio Fazzi
Landscapes and townscapes in both Scotland and Italy are my preferred subject matter which I try to record in my own impressionistic style.
I sell my work in galleries throughout the country but stock items can also be purchased on this website.
If something one off or bespoke is required I am more than happy to take on commissions.
I deliver my work both nationally and internationally.

This is Emilio Fazzi
I was introduced to painting by my aunt Maria who lived in Florence and whose main interest in life was culture and the arts. When I was a child, she dragged me through the art galleries and museums of Florence and central Italy and instilled in me a real interest in art, which eventually inspired me to pick up a brush.
The long summer months of my youth were spent in Italy, a place where even small hilltop towns contain some priceless artistic gem, I made a real effort to visit as many sites of artistic interest as I could and was thus able to follow the development of painting and sculpture from the early middle-ages right through to modern times.
I regularly go to my flat out near Lucca solely to paint from where I get an unrivalled choice of subject matter and inspiration.
Born in Glasgow of Italian parents, being both Scottish and Italian and is an important part of my make up and am so grateful to the UK for allowing me to claim both nationalities.
In 2023 I was awarded the gold medal from the Town of Lucca in Tuscany for being a citizen of the town who distinguished him/herself abroad.
I can think of no better place to live than the southside of Glasgow, a city with elegant “paintable” suburbs nestled next to ones that are perhaps more downbeat but still interesting. Much of the Scottish countryside like the Western Highlands, the farmlands of Ayrshire, Edinburgh and the Lowlands and the hills of Stirlingshire are often unappreciated by our population and yet are world class objects to paint, despite of course the vagaries of our weather.
As to artistic preferences, I like the work of Giotto and Fra Angelico, impressionists like Sisley, Manet and Degas and more modern painters such as the Italian Macchiaoli, Modigliani and Boldini. Despite my Italian roots, the Scottish Colourists and the Glasgow Boys are ultimately the ones I like most.
Working mostly in acrylics and oil, I tend to visit, photograph and sketch my subject and then do the final painting in my chaotic studio. As can be seen from my artistic heroes I tend to paint landscapes and townscapes in an impressionistic style .
Although mostly self-taught, over the years I have done untold numbers of part time courses at the Glasgow School of Art perhaps more hours in total than a typical degree course. In addition to painting I have a passion for squash and tennis and like to think I can bring the discipline, energy and and relative success, particularly in squash to my work.
